Apple has introduced a new feature aimed at simplifying the often-awkward process of splitting bills with friends. Unveiled at WWDC 2026, this innovation leverages Siri and the iPhone camera to make dividing expenses more straightforward.

The Bill-Splitting Feature

The new feature allows users to point their iPhone camera at a receipt. Siri mode in the Camera app then makes each item on the receipt selectable. This enables users to keep track of who ordered what and send separate Apple Cash payment requests based on individual orders. According to Apple VP of Software Sebastien Marineau-Mes, "If you’re grabbing a bite with friends and point your iPhone at the bill, then [you can] select what you ordered to split the tab with Apple Cash."

Enhanced Dining Experience
